John Adams was an American statesman, attorney, diplomat, writer, and Founding Father who served as the 2nd president of the United States from 1797 to 1801.
A rare glimpse into the beginnings of a Founding Father. When the loan was made, Adams was a 28-year-old newly-minted lawyer who would marry Abigail Smith just two months later. Adams had begun his rise to prominence with his opposition to the Stamp Act just one year later.
