French Revolutionary A. Q. Fouquier Signs a Death Sentence
Partially Printed Document Twice Signed, “A. Q. Fouquier”, in French, 1p, on Tribunal Revolutionnaire letterhead, 7.25” x 9.75”, being a death sentence issued by Fouquier against a French revolutionary who is being sent to the guillotine. Flattened folds, minor toning and foxing, small area of paper loss towards the lower right corner, uneven bottom edge, else near Fine condition. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA and a Certificate of Authenticity from R&R Enterprises. Untranslated.
Antoine Quentin Fouquier de Tinville (1746-1795) was a French lawyer and public prosecutor during the French Revolution and Reign of Terror. Among his victims were Marie Antoinette and Georges Danton. After the fall of Maximilien Robespierre, Fouquier was tried and guillotined.
