A MING-STYLE WUCAI PORCELAIN VASE, LATE QING DYNASTY
China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. Of baluster shape, painted in vivid green, yellow, and aubergine enamels and iron-red above the glaze, depicting two phoenixes amid flowers and tendrils. An iron-red geometrical and border and floral spray to the neck. The base left unglazed.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1990 and has remained in the family ever since.
Condition: Very good condition with traces of wear, a few glaze chips, abrasions to the enamels, and manufacturing irregularities such as fritting.
