A Victorian sterling silver mustard pot, London 1845 by messrs Barnard
Of rounded cylindrical form upon a cast and applied foot rim of stylised acanthus leaf scrolls. The cast acanthus leaf capped C scroll handle leading to a hinged domed lid raised by an asymmetrical scrolling thumbpiece. The body with pierced decoration of foliate scrolls. The lid with engraved decoration of an asymmetrical foliate scroll and flower head cartouche, engraved to the centre with a crest of a stag’s head couped. Fitted with a removable blue glass liner. Marked to the side and part-marked to the lid interior.
