A George III sterling silver butter tub on stand, London 1782 by Henry Green and Charles Aldridge
Of oval form with beaded rims, the tub section with two beaded handles. The pull off domed lid surmounted by a detachable beaded urn form finial. The tun and stand engraved with a crossed palm branch cartouche within a bright cut circle. These cartouches and to the lid engraved with a crest of in a ducal coronet, an oak tree fructed and penetrated transversely in the main stem by a frame-saw, all below the motto Through. Fully marked underneath tub and stand, lion passant only to lid interior.
