SALEM, MASSACHUSETTS SCHOOLGIRL CALLIGRAPHY / PENMANSHIP DISPLAY AND NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, ink and watercolor on paper, and silk on green linsey-woolsey, calligraphy/penmanship display featuring "The Lords Prayer." above signature of "Mary Read. / Mrs Cranch's Academy. / Salem Dec 19th 1810.", all within a foliate frame below a basket of flowers at the top; needlework sampler having six alphabet row segmented by simple horizontal bands, last two rows signed "MARY READ'S / SAMPLER". Both pieces framed together under acrylic panel in a modern frame. Circa 1810. Sampler 10 1/4" x 7 1/2" object, 14 3/4" x 20 3/4" OA.

Condition
Very good visual condition, display with creases to paper and a few small holes, light toning, scattered small paint loss, some fading and bleeding to ink, needlework with holes and a few faded spots to linsey-woolsey, frame with minor wear. Not examined out of frame.
