Description
AMERICAN PICTORIAL NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, silk on linen, three alphabet rows flanked by two ten-point stars above diamond motifs, lower half with pictorial motifs including a two-story brick house in the lower right, flowers in a handled vase, two birds, and two pitchers, signed and dated "1839 / SER" to the left, all encompassed by a scrolling vine border with a black bird in the upper left corner. Housed under glass in a wooden frame. Dated 1839. 12 1/2" x 9 1/4" sight, 16 5/8" x 13 1/2" OA.

Condition
Very good visual condition with overall light toning, a small hole in the center of the right-hand side, possible repair to center horizontal and lower center, thread with some fading/fugitive color, frame with some wear and surface scratches, lower edge with two cracks.
