AMERICAN, PROBABLY PENNSYLVANIA, CUT-WORK / SCHERENSCHNITTE FOLK ART VALENTINE, ink on paper, concentric form with center and inner circle having tulip-form motifs, outer circle and edge with pairs of distelfinks/lovebirds, inscribed to each circle border starting from the outer to the inner edge, beginning with "The fourteenth day of february It was my chance for to be merry...", presented on a pink fabric. Housed under glass in a period gilt-molded frame. Mid 19th century. 12 3/4" x 12 3/4" object, 21 3/4" SQ overall.
