AMERICAN, PROBABLY PENNSYLVANIA, CUT-WORK / SCHERENSCHNITTE FOLK ART VALENTINE, ink on paper, concentric form with center and inner circle having tulip-form motifs, outer circle and edge with pairs of distelfinks/lovebirds, inscribed to each circle border starting from the outer to the inner edge, beginning with "The fourteenth day of february It was my chance for to be merry...", presented on a pink fabric. Housed under glass in a period gilt-molded frame. Mid 19th century. 12 3/4" x 12 3/4" object, 21 3/4" SQ overall.
Provenance: From a New England collection.

Condition

Very good visual condition with some toning and spotting to paper, some scattered tears, frame with some wear, cracks, and other imperfections. Not examined out of frame.
