Description

NORTH CAROLINA WALNUT PEWTER CUPBOARD, one-piece construction, applied cornice above three fixed shelves with molded plate rails and spoon slots flanked by shaped sides, over three short drawers, and two raised-panel doors, retaining possibly original "rat-tail" hinges. Yellow pine secondary wood. Retains an old surface with warm color. Circa 1780. 80 1/4" H, 50" W, 17 3/4" D.
Provenance: Property deaccessioned by the Colonial Williamsburg, Foundation, VA. All proceeds to benefit the Collections Acquisition Fund.
Catalogue Note: Purportedly bought at a farm sale in eastern North Carolina.
