Ca. 100-200 AD A bronze ring with a circular incised hoop and an applied irregular-shaped bezel decorated with an engraved lituus motif. The lituus was a curved wand or staff used by Roman augurs (seers) and priests during religious rites, suggesting this gorgeous item originally belonged to a priest. Size: D: 14.36mm / US: 3 3/8 / UK: G; 16.94g Provenance: Private UK collection; from an old London collection formed in the 1980s.
