Description
George III. "An Act for the impartial Administration of Justice in the Cases of Persons questioned for any Acts done by them in the Execution of the Law, for the Suppression of Riots and Tumults, in the Province of Massachusetts Bay, in New England." London: Printed by Charles Eyre and William Strahan, 1774. Cap. XXXIX. Folio, disbound. [2], 991-998 pp. ************ The Administration of Justice Act was one of the so-called "Intolerable Acts" passed by George III as punishment of the American colony of Massachusetts following the Boston Tea Party. This Act provided that those British officials believed to have committed crimes would face their trials in England or in another colony. Many colonists believed this would lead to unjust acquittals of the accused. The anger generated by the Intolerable Acts would eventually give birth to the American Revolution.
