A good and rare 19th century 8-day mahogany marine chronometer with power reserve aperture and integral winding key

The three part case with solid top lid and centre section with an ivory signature and number plaque, the lower section with inlaid brass escutcheon and hinged handles. The 5 inch signed and numbered silvered Roman dial with running seconds at XII over a curved aperture revealing the power reserve, with blued steel spade hands. The 3/4 plate lacquered movement with 3 tall ringed pillars supporting the spring barrel, the chain and the fusee (with maintaining power); the free sprung blued steel helical balance spring with diamond endstone to a compensated bimetallic balance with large timing screws and Earnshaw type spring detent escapement set on a sub-plate, set in a weighted, gimballed bowl punch numbered 2/975. Together with integral winding key, two associated hand setting keys and a case key.
