James Hatton London Rare Eight Day Marine Chronometer No. 275, circa 1805
Case: brass in gimbals, bezel secured with two side mount thumb screws, domed glass crystal, rotating disc over the wind arbor engraved "Wind to the Left Hand Once a Week", numbered brass winding key
Dial: silvered, black Roman hour numerals, minute track and five minute numbers, subsidiary seconds, blued steel "pear" and baton hands, dial secured with three screws and blued steel bezels
Movement: brass full plate, Earnshaw type detent escapement mounted to the underside of the back plate, screwed cannon pillars, chain fusee, blued steel helical hairspring held on a separate cock with adjustable positioning arm, free sprung bi-metallic balance with trapezoidal weights and two mean time screws, jeweled gear train, spring barrel and plate cut with four slots exposing the edge of the spring for visual inspection
