Description
Titled 'Migratory Bird III' color lithograph on Rives vellum with watermark, numbered V/XV, pencil-signed lower right. The art publisher, Louis Broder, collaborated with Joan Miro to create four historically significant suites of color lithographs 1970-1971. Provenance: from the estate of Louis Broder, acquired by Park West Gallery, purchased by the consigner in 2012. Joan Miro responded to a wide range of stimuli throughout his long, productive life; he began creating the multicolor etchings and lithographs for which he is renowned, in 1947. Although he had been making original prints since the late 1920's, especially in coordination with writers and as part of various Surrealist projects, it was after World War II that he turned to the graphic media in earnest. A Miro print, whether from 1947 or 1981, speaks, sings, and dances with the same energy as his paintings.Overall Size: 38 x 32 1/2 in Sight Size: 25 1/2 x 19 1/2 in
