PEARL DIVER, by Victor Berge and Henry Wysham Lanier. 1930, Garden City, New York. Hardbound 368 pages with illustrations. Early pearl diving adventures of Berge who would very soon become part of American military diving history by creating the Victor Berge mask with a demand regulator, manufactured by the Ohio Rubber Company in WWII. There are also encounters with cannibals and early accounts of sharks underwater. Check the Contents pages. At the back of the book are two pinkish-tinged paper print photographs that have been attached. These show divers using the two Morse 5-bolt helmets that Berge used in his pearl diving. These helmets are not shown in the body text of the book. The book is in very good condition with a laser copy dust jacket in protective sleeve.
