PROVENANCE:
from the Estate of Senior Chief Petty Officer Aviation Engineer Thomas Clanton, USN Ret., (1935-2019), of Scout Trace, Blairsville and a former lifelong resident of Sarasota, FL. The son of the late Willard Clanton and the late Karen Clanton. Tom was a veteran of the US Navy having given thirty years of service for his country. While in the USN he was stationed in Olongapo Philippines and at Ching Chaun Kang Air Base in Taiwan flying aboard the P3 Orion. The P3 was used for anti-submarine operations and as reconnaissance missions. Since then, Tom begins fascinated and collecting many Oriental Chinese Antiques and Fine Arts.

Chinese Qing Dynasty Period, Qianlong Ge type porcelain cong vase. The Porcelain potted in Zong shape vase, thick and tall, squared body, with short circle opening mouth and foot base, raised on round shallow foot. Essentially tubes with a square cross-section and a circular hole, having rib molded corners in form of a traditional hair pin along the sides stacked as modules, one atop another. The shape of the Zong with its square and circular shape could be interpreted as 'the unity of heaven and earth' where the square represents the earth and a circle represents the heaven. Distinctive "GE" crackled glaze also known as jinsitiexian which translates to mean gold floss and iron thread which details the look of several lines that appear in the crackled surface. Mark on under base, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark, QianLong Reign Period of Great Qing Dynasty.
