Robert Valdez was the Postmaster of Key West. Valdez's daughter was the consignors Big Sister in the their sorority.
His daughter told the consignor that Valdez was good friends with the famous Key West artist, Mario Sanchez.

the Wrecker: Rugged Individuals who braved wind and waves to salvage cargoes from ships wrecked on the reefs surrounding Key West. Romanticists would have you believe their purpose was altruistic: but many were guilty of moving navigational lights in order to bring about the wrecks these lights were supposed to prevent. The Wreckers object, of course, being the acquisition of rich cargoes. Cartagena, Port Royal! What did they have that Key West Lacked?

No. 3 Old Porter Dock
Many an hour flew by fishing from this dock and the foot of Duval Street: and many a meal was caught here during The Great Depression of the 1930s when the conch learned to subsist on the three Gs - Grits, Grunts and Gravy. The position of the fisherman is known as the conch squat.
