Harold Rabinovitz WPA Era Depression Drawing NY Unemployed, three Social Realist figures in an alley, titled Unemployed, 1936, illustrated on p172 as inventory 68A of the Rabinovitz catalogue raisonne, a copy of which accompanies this lot, charcoal and graphite on paper, 9.375 x 5.75 inches, 6.125 x 9.675 sheet sight, 15.75 x 11.75 x 0.5 inches framed, signed and dated 2.5.36 lower right, framed. Provenance: Family of the artist, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Note that a new record for the artist for a related subject painting was set last fall at Doyle in Manhattan.
Condition
No visible damage other than heavy even toning, acidified mat edges, slightly askew within mat which may perhaps indicate not being laid down, not examined out of frame.
