Study of the Heads of three Elderly Bearded Men, en sanguine and charcoal on heavy wove paper, unsigned, with backing marked "Andrea del Sarto, Coll. of Dr. Ed. Riggall." Unframed, 6 5/8" x 8 3/4" sheet, residue on back.Dr. Edward Riggall of London, was an important collector of works on paper, who catalogued the drawings of Cruikshank. He made a large donation from his collection to the British Museum in 1886 . His library was sold by Sotheby's, Wilkinson and Hodges on Tues, 22 March, 1893, and the four following days. He died in 1901.
