Description
A Pair of Sevres Style Handpainted Ormolu Mounted Porcelain with Cobalt Blue Ground Vases and Covers. Late 19th or Early 20th Century. The baluster vases have domed lids with pine cone finial. Each vase has a French courting scene front surrounded by gilt beading and scrolling foliage. The reverse of the vases is decorated with landscape scenes surrounded by gilt beading and scrolling foliage. Acanthus mounted loop handles with swags. The lids are signed with spurious interlaced L's mark and one Courting Scene is signed by Bertren. The bases are square section re-entrant gilt -bronze plinth bases. The vases with covers measure 31 3/4" high X 12 1/4" wide at handles. Condition - Overall very good condition. Painted scenes and gilt beading and scrolling are in good condition. Losses to metal gilding. One lid had a professional restoration to a quarter size 22mm loose chip.
