A 3" x 3.5" (by sight) gold silhouette image of Peter Osgood, faintly Signed, "J.H.M." at the lower right. On the back written in pencil reads: "Peter Osgood Master Mason in the building of the State House Boston Massachusetts." Peter Osgood is listed, stated as a "bricklayer" in the directory during that period. The primary Architects were Charles Bulfinch, Charles Brigham, Gridley J. F. Bryant, Richard Clipston Sturgis. The Silhouette is housed in a 4.5" x 5" simple black wooden frame which appears original to the period. Minor tone to the mat, and some wear with abrasion to the frame edge. The Massachusetts State House, also known as the "Massachusetts Statehouse" or the "New State House," is the Massachusetts State Capitol and seat of government which was built: 1795"1798.
