Description
Collection of 7 vintage Armenian doubled handled silver bowls. Armenian, ca. mid 20th century (Soviet era). Marked 875 silver (with Star and Hammer & Sickle mark). Gilt interior. The bowls each show a building in a city or town of Armenia; 6 depicting the Opera Theatre of Yerevan and the inscription "Yerevan" in Armenian, and 1 depicting the Sevan Monastery (Sevanavank) in the town of Sevan with "Sevan" written in Armenian. The reverses of all cups seem to show Mount Ararat. Geometric motifs are found throughout the decoration, a braided rim, and floral / vegetal motifs on the handles and leaf motifs for the feet. 3" tall by 6 1/2" wide. Total weight: 41.78 OZT.
