North America, Northwestern United States, Alaska, ca. 21st century CE. A charming cotton and hide doll with a wooden drum. The ceramic head is wrinkled to resemble an elderly Inuit man, with inlaid glass eyes and fluffy white fox fur as his hair and fur parka ruff. The body is made from cloth and a firm stuffing, with articulating limbs, dressed in cotton shirt and trousers. The mitten hands and removable boots are made from caribou or seal fur. The doll is best arranged in a seated position, with the story telling drum place on his lap - a disc of birch wood covered with leather. Size: 11" L x 5" W (27.9 cm x 12.7 cm)
