Description
A tall slender carved wooden hook idol with highly stylized form, opposed concentric circular like rib forms, ancestor face and one leg, stylized hands to face. Known as a Kamangabbi , this Hook served as a hunters Charm for bountiful hunting and fishing. Black lakes region, Papua New Guinea. The Hook measures 27 inches tall on a professional custom display stand. Provenance: Private New York collection since the 1970's.
