Boston & Maine BTBB Lantern Red Cast Barrel

Item Details

Description

Boston & Maine Railroad brass top, bellbottom lantern. A decent brasstop bellbottom frame with twist off bell. The brass top is nice. The frame shows some light surface rust. The lid has B&M RR stamped in block lettering. Probably Railroad Signal Lamp & Lantern as a manufacturer. The top spins down to lock the globe tightly in position. The bell is probably an F. O. Dewey which is standard for this top assembly. It has a glass fount and burner. The globe is a nice red flashed barrel that measures 6" tall. Standard flanges and extensions on both ends. It has B&MRR cast in a rectangular panel. There is minor flaking to the flashing so you can see the globe started as clear. It's a very nice globe. We sold this lantern back in the John Knowles era, which was 13-22 years ago. At that time is was lot #399.
