American, 20th century, based on a Woodlands pipe tomahawk in the collection of the British Museum (see note), naturalistic wood handle, engraved steel blade, spear tip, and pipe bowl, blade showing design of Great Seal of the United States on one side, attack scene on other, 17-1/8 in.
Note: With letter from James R. Johnston stating that the tomahawk was made by Mark Bohenkamp and was based on a tomahawk in The British Museum.
