Town and Country Magazine, 5.25 x 8.25, beautifully framed to a size of 17.5" x 14.25", dated December 1781. The magazine features a complete printing of letters sent by General Cornwallis announcing George Washington's victory in the Battle of Yorktown, plus six complete pages containing detailed news of the battle and a complete printing of the Articles of Capitulation by the British to the American Army. Very good condition, professionally framed, but not examined outside the frame.
An extremely rare printing of this magazine which highlights the victory at the Battle of Yorktown leading to the creation of the United States of America.
The outcome in Yorktown, Virginia marked the conclusion of the last major battle of the American Revolution and the start of a new nation's independence. It also cemented Washington's reputation as a great leader and his eventual election as the first president of the United States.
