19th Century Mixed Group of Stocks, Bonds, and Membership Certificates
A small, mixed group of 4 stock, bond, and membership certificates, varying in size, dating from 1850 to 1896. Belonging to Sheppard & Sons Stocks and Share Brokers, Labor Exchange Association, Civil Service Co-operative Society, and Adrian Union Hall Company. All with flattened folds and varying degrees of toning. Small separations and tears at the edges. Overall, very good.
Includes the following:
Sheppard & Sons Stocks and Share Brokers Consolidation Certificate. York, England, dated April 6, 1850. A receipt for Benjamin Lowess and William Henry Leatham in the sum of £998.14 in consideration for £1038.19.3 Interest or share in joint stock. Accompanied by a color print of a cavalry charge during the Battle of Balaklava.
Labor Exchange Association Membership Certificate. Independence, Missouri, dated February 26, 1896. No. 3964, issued to Adolphus Rea, a Laborer.
Civil Service Co-operative Society Capital Stock Certificate. Boston, dated February 20, 1882. No. 203, issuing one share ($4 each) to William Banks Jr.
Adrian Union Hall Company Capital Stock Certificate. Adrian, Michigan, dated February 15, 1869. No. 15, issuing 7 shares to John G. Botsford.
