Early Kentucky Settler, Three Slaves, Lincoln Count 1792

This inventory of the estate of John Shackelford of Lincoln County, Kentucky, includes three slaves and their approximate values. Together their assigned value of £105 accounts for more than 40 percent of the personal property in Shackelford's estate. The appraisers were George Murrell, John Montgomery, and Alexander Blane (d. ca. 1807).

On the same day that they prepared this inventory, Murrell, Montgomery, and Blane also prepared an inventory of the estate of George Shackelford, which included one slave and had a total value of £96-4-6.

Agreeably to an Order of the Worshipful Court of Lincoln We the subscribers having been duly sworn have proceeded to appraise the Estate of Jno Shackelford Deceased as followeth /to wit/
