Douglas Fairbanks Photo Portrait in His "Gaucho" Costume, ca. 1927
A sepia-toned photograph of actor Douglas Fairbanks, dressed in his costume from "The Gaucho" and smoking a cigarette. Measuring 10.5" x 13.5", n.p., ca. 1927. Mounted to thick cardstock, measuring 11" x 14" overall. Near fine, with a few small spots at the lower margin.
"The Gaucho" was a silent film released in 1927, starring Douglas Fairbanks and Lupe Vélez. Set in Argentina, the adventure story is considered as one of Fairbanks' best works, with Fairbanks biographer, Jeffrey Vance, considering it to be "a near masterwork".
