Agatha Christie Rare Signed Letter, 1968
Autograph letter signed by literary icon Agatha Christie as "A. Mallowan", dated July 19, [1968], just after the publication of "Endless Night", known to be Christie's favorite of her novels. Composed in blue ballpoint, two-page letter on a single sheet measures 5.5" x 7". Fold and light wear, overall in very good plus condition. Accompanied by original envelope in Christie's handwriting, postmarked July 20, 1968.
On her personal "Winterbrook House" stationery, Christie writes to her housekeeper Jane Elliot, in full, "Dear Jane / Very nice to know you are with us at Greenway. I really didn't have much time when I saw Mrs. Hicks last week in Oxford as we were in the middle of a party! But I gather she's made all arrangements with you - I start taking over, that on Monday 22nd - Peter will arrive there on Monday & John on Tuesday as far as I know - Peter is here with us now and we have been two days at Stratford - / We have still to clear out of the London flat & get finally transferred to the [?] Mews house and arrange for some furniture to go down to Devon - I can't do very much at a time since I have been ill - We hope to be at Greenway at least a month from August 12th. Mr. & Mrs. Cecil Mallowan get back from Persia on 14th & 15th August. I'll get Mr. Hicks to settle up with you, each week until I get down - Looking forward to seeing you very much."
