Shaka Buddha Triad with Sixteen Rakan
Edo period (1615-1868), 18th/19th century
A hanging scroll brushed in ink, color, and gold on paper, depicting Shaka Nyorai (Shakyamuni Buddha) sitting at the top center, flanked by Monju Bosatsu (Manjusri Bodhisattva) and Fugen Bosatsu (Samantabhadra Bodhisattva) with their animal mounts, seated below the triad 16 Rakan (Arhats) in two columns of eight, accompanied by human and animal companions
