The body carved in ichiboku-zukuri (single-block) construction, the figure shown in a contrapposto stance with the right hand raised to eye level and the left hand at the waist as if holding articles (now lost), the figure dressed in Chinese-style armor and robes with voluminous sleeves, the face bearing a fierce expression with bulging eyes, the hair gathered up in a tall chignon

Including, but not limited to the following:

There is extensive old worming throughout-- it is now inactive.
There is considerable surface wear and losses overall, including to the tip the tresses, the edge of the crown, the toggles, sashes, buckles and decoration on the armor, as visible in the illustration. The flames at the front of the crown on the forehead have been restored with a section of the left side replaced. there is restoration to the sides of the face and across the forehead.The joints and both shoulders have been restored. There is a vertical crack on the outside of the sleeve of the left arm with an old staple repair. There is a network of vertical cracks in the wood running down the torso and on the hips, and also down the legs below the knees. Extensive wear and loss to the edges of the surface details and loss to the sharpness of the details. Losses to the hem of the garment along the back. Restoration to the insides of both feet. Some restoration to the robes hanging down at the back.
Old surface wear, losses discoloration and vertical cracks to the rock base.
