Item Details

Description

Beautiful alkaline glaze Catawba Valley storage jar attributed to the Propst Family ca. 1920. Marked with a 5 for gallonage. Either Sam Absolom Benton Propst (1882-1935) or his son, Floyd Propst (1914-1983). Floyd moved to CA and also continued turning pots once the Propst shop closed in 1937. He died in Contra Costa, CA. Stands 16"H x 11"W. Chip to the underside of a handle; overall very good condition.
