Central Asia, Persia / Northern India, Mughal or Indo-Persian culture, ca. 19th century CE. An attractive brass axe head with a tubular socket and a curved blade and protruding spike on the lower periphery near the socket. The head bears a petite blade, etched with low relief foliate motifs. The hafting socket has an octagonal exterior and a tab on the lower rim to enforce the addition of pole. A heavy patina envelops the surface of this handsome axe! Size: 3" L x 1.25" W (7.6 cm x 3.2 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
