Description
CECCO MARINELLO (Siena, 1950).
Triptych "Trittico delle gru".
Oil on canvas.
The piece will be available approximately 15 days after payment.
Size: 100 x 150 (each); 300 x 150 cm (total).
Painter and illustrator focused on the representation of Mediterranean myths and the places of the soul where classicism meets personal memory. Marinello expresses beauty through classical forms together with wild nature or with the presence of even more ancient figures. His surrealist-inspired compositions respond to the need to express himself freely, without the constraints of a text, working at length, for the necessary time with light and colour. The space is perspectival and interacts with individual memory and with myth, with metaphysics and with affection, with the grotesque and with emotion, evoking suggestions of the great tradition of 20th century Italian figurative art, filtered through a contemporary sensibility and a poetics that inhabits spaces where the ancient and the modern coexist.
He has received numerous awards for his work, including two Andersen prizes, in 1985 and 1990, and the Battello a Vapore prize in 1996. He has also collaborated with media such as Le Monde, La Stampa, La Repibblica, and with the publishers Mondatori (Italy), Usborne (UK), Henry Holt (USA), Grasset (France) and Grimm Press (Taiwan).
