A Regency mahogany chaise lounge A Regency mahogany chaise lounge, with a swept backrest and a scrolling armrest, upholstered in striped yellow and green silk, the frame with a gilt and painted faux rosewood finish, raised on turned supports, terminating onto brass castors, 135cm wide 61.5cm deep 90cm high, seat 42cm high Provenance: Originally owned by Violet Gordon-Woodhouse (1872-1948) - a British keyboard player who was instrumental in bringing the harpsichord and clavichord back into fashion during the early 20th century, with recordings made for the BBC and HMV. Outside her musical achievements, Violet's personal life has also gained notoriety, from her marriage blanc to Gordon Woodhouse to later ménage a cinq, known as 'The Woodhouse Circus'. Condition Report: Requires re-upholstering; the fabric is torn and stained. Knocks and wear but structurally sound. The paint is flaking off in some areas. No evidence of woodworm.
