Item Details
Description
Title: Marshall Pass, Westside. 1880s. Albumen. Approximately 5 3/4 x 9 3/4 inches. The train makes its way along the bend in the tracks with passengers standing and sitting on top. Dramatic image.

The title, negative number, and attribution have been cropped out of this one. However, the same image is found in the Getty Museum's collection and on their website. Also, a variant can be found in the Catalogue of the Amon Carter Museum Photography Collection, #3149, p.328.

"William Henry Jackson's photograph shows a train on the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad passing through a remote wilderness area. The recently deforested hill above the train's path provided lumber for trestles and for the ties beneath the railroad's iron rails." (source: Getty Museum website.)

The consignor, Alex Novak, offered to split the hammer with the Daguerreian Society. This is a generous donation and greatly appreciated.

This is a larger singular image that needs careful packing. Special packing fees apply. See the shipping terms for details.
