Each measures 4 1/4 X 7 1/4 inches. Town and bay view has no caption. Caption on the closeup of the Gold Mine is "Treadwell's Gold Mine (showing men at work on ledge.) "Situated on the south side of Douglas Island, directly across the Gastineau Channel from downtown Juneau, the mine was founded by Canadian gold miner John Treadwell in 1881 and was the largest gold mine in the world with 2,000 employees. On reverse in period ink "Amerika U.S. Juneau in Alaska."

The consignor, Alex Novak, offered to split the hammer with the Daguerreian Society. This is a generous donation and greatly appreciated.
