This is a vibrant daybook on what can happen in a station house between 5:30 and 9 P.M. Told in fascinating detail about the everyday activities of a precinct police station in New York City. The Broadway stage play of the same name in 1949 starred Ralph Bellamy and Maureen Stapleton. The play was adapted by Kingsley for the 1951 William Wyler film that starred a young and very angry Kirk Douglas, Eleanor Parker, and William Bendix.
