Description
A handsome bound volume of British Votes of the House of Commons. London: John Whiston, 1774. Thick folio. Bound in period full calf. ************ These were issued to members of Parliament for the purpose of record-keeping. They are thus more scarce than Parliamentary acts. Presented here is a substantial run from January to June, 1774, during the critical period leading up the American Revolutionary War. Not surprisingly, there are multiple references to America, including a petition from the province of Massachusetts Bay (pg. 342), discussion of the importation of hides from British plantations in America (pg. 576), and discussion of the growth of coffee in America (pg. 674), among others.
Condition
Front board detached, binding with other general wear, fore-edge of front board bumped, corners showing. Contents clean.
