Description
Two Japanese blue and white pottery stacking boxes, of circular form with four tiers and domed lids, the larger decorated with phoenixes and the smaller with cloud forms and geometric reserves, having no apparent marks. Provenance: From a Private Collection, Atlanta, GA; acquired in Japan between 1989-1993. Larger approx. h. 11", dia. 7.25".
Condition
Larger-- (1) 1/4" hole in lid, (1) 1/2" hairline, (2) 1/4" chips, and glaze imperfections; Smaller-- (1) 1.5" hairline on lid, three tiers with firing cracks to undersides, and glaze imperfections, minor to moderate soil.
