Description
Probably Victorian or later example of "The Fisted War Hammer" of the late 15th-16th century style depicted in several Albrect Durer works and in other examples of the period now in private hands. This example features a well modeled hand in brass tightly clenching a dagger or spike of 4 sides. The unusual dagger features a round tapering pommel, the shaft as ornate as the hammer is carved in a renaissance style from hardwood and is solid, the grip of the war hammer is cleaned brass ornately decorated with scrolling, a carved pommel with medallions in the style of crowns and floral motifs. 22" L
