Description

An Irish George III Mahogany Tall Case Clock
Circa 1800
the dial marked Clonmell.
Height 87 x width 19 x depth 10 1/2 inches.
The Estate of Mary Andrews Chenoweth, Denver, Colorado

Condition

Retains a fairly consistent patina and finish throughout. Retains a case key. Both winding cylinders take a wind, although it is lacking a winding key. The face with rubbing and small losses to the dial. Discoloration and craquelure visible to the surface of the dial. Hour hand is detached and will need to be soldered back into position. Age cracks visible in areas. Old scuffs, marks and scratches consistent with age and use. Retains three brass finials that were not photographed during the photography session. The rope twist molding from the lower edge of the hood is detached, but retained. The case and the works are likely associated. Condition reports are available upon request. All lots are sold "as is" in the condition they are in at the time of the auction. The physical condition of lots can vary due to age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and restoration. Prospective buyers are strongly advised to inspect a lot personally or through a knowledgeable representative prior to bidding.
