Antique German Regimental Stein, Figural Sailor Lid

Item Details

Description

Great looking and highly detailed German beer Regimental stein. Pewter figural lid featuring a sailor holding what looks like a life ring and lots of low relief military figures below and figural eagle on thumb lift. The body shows a lot of sailor activities including one climbing a tree to kiss a lady. The figure in the circular medallion is possibly Prince Wilhelm. Around the rim looks to be translated to "We Faithfully Served the Fatherland For Three Years on the East and North Sea Beaches" Unsure but it appears as though the names of the sailors are hand painted near the figural handle. It is marked with an impressed L and 790, and a lightly incised 3 or B. Stands approx 15" tall
