Vivien Leigh (1913-1967) British actress. Leigh won the Academy Award for Best Actress twice, for her definitive performances as Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind (1939) and Blanche DuBois in the film version of A Streetcar Named Desire (1951), a role she had also played on stage in London's West End in 1949. 6 ¼” x 8” autograph letter signed, front and back, personal stationery, September 20, 1962, to Mrs. G. Sadler. â€œâ€¦Thank you for your charming letter- I did indeed open having delightful times with your friend â€¦She was most kind to me & such great fun to be with. .I enjoyed myself in Brazil enormously and hope very much to return one day.As toâ€™Tovarichâ€™ if this shall be a success in NY shall re produce it in London. Thanks for your good wishes. Please remember me very warmly to Mrsâ€¦ Sincerely Vivien Leigh.” She, won a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in Tovarich in 1963.
