Buddy Holly 1958 Owned and Worn Silk Scarf W/Letter of Provenance - This navy silk scarf with with white and blue polka dots, decorative pleats, and fringe was personally owned by Buddy Holly and worn during the latter half of his career. The scarf was first obtained from a 1990 Collectors' Carrousel Auction including Property from the Estate of Buddy Holly, and comes with photocopies of the catalog pages. The scarf also comes with a handwritten letter of provenance from Robert Reynolds, who was the bassist for the country music band The Mavericks, who acquired the piece in the late 1990s. Buddy Holly tragically passed away in February, 1959 along with fellow musicians Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper, after chartering a plane from Clear Lake, Iowa to Moorhead, Minnesota which crashed shortly after take off. Buddy Holly was among the first artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in 1986, and Rolling Stone magazine ranked him number 13 in its list of "100 Greatest Artists".
