Description
A Veracruz standing Xipe impersonator with two spread legs that extend straight out, with a third support extending from the back of the figure for stability. The mouth is open and oval-shaped with the tongue exposed. The slit-like eyes slant downward, slightly towards the nose. The figure wears a loin cloth. Buff ceramic, red and white pigment. Late Classic, 600 CE to 900 CE. 14 3/4" x 7 1/4".Condition: Fair, with losses at both arms. There has been surface loss due to abrasions. There are repaired breaks.Provenance: From the Boeckman Collection. Dallas, Texas.
