WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT (1857-1930). 27th President of the United States and as the 10th Chief Justice of the United States, the Only Person to have held both offices.
c. 1904 Partially-Printed Certificate of Membership Signed, "Wm. H. Taft", as President of the University Club of the City of Washington, District of Columbia, measuring about 8.5" x 11", 1 page, Choice Crisp Near Mint. Scarce decorative official Document boldly signed, yet unaccomplished in blank by Taft in purple ink as President of the club, who was the acting Secretary of War at the time. It is interesting that Taft, a future President of the United States, is signing this Document as a different kind of "President"!
