It will be a very long time before you have an opportunity to bid on another copy of this ancient relic of the 1st Annual Buffalo Party Convention and pig roast! Psychedelic lettering features a list of performers, many of which did not appear at the festival.


Held in the summer of 1970 in Eatonville Washington, the Buffalo Party Convention and pig roast at Buffalo Don Murphy’s Flying M Ranch, east of town was unfolding. Under the covert identity of "a political gathering", even though most folks knew its impending reality as a rock festival.

The local townspeople were immersed in a serious uproar since Woodstock had taken place about a year earlier on, and they had fearful visions of thousands of hippies with their drugs, and all the rest of what a rock festival had exhibited in the press.

Immediately preceding the festival, a preliminary injunction was filed in Superior Court prohibiting "further advertising, opening, ticket selling, operating, or in any way furthering and having the event called the Buffalo Party Convention and Pig Roast." Although the cat was already out of the bag and neither the police roadblocks nor the injunction stopped the Eatonville rock festival.

So the authorities, residents and businesses prepared for the worst of the onslaught of the notorious & infamous hippies.
